Browning's and The Fire At Arnold's On Happy Days...
Well it’s happened . I’m 40. Yesterday. Remarkably I woke up yesterday and felt pretty much the same. A couple more hairs in the sink and shower after shaving and bathing but that’s been the standard for the last couple of years. That’s all another story…
Today though, I watched too much TV growing up. I loved TV. Still do. I can tell you about more shows than I should be able to…things that I probably shouldn’t have been watching back then…I mean why should a 6 year old know anything that happened on “Rich Man, Poor Man”… it was a mini-series for those of you that don’t know. Nick Nolte’s big break as a matter of fact. And Peter Strauss also….for a time he was the king of the mini-series and the TV movie. To this day, Tuesday is my favorite day of the week and I relate that to the fact that Tuesdays was when Happy Days came on.
Happy Days was something I remember watching with my family. Richie, the Fonz, Potsie, Ralph, Jonie, Chachi. Golly, lots of long “e” sounds with those names. We watched every week. Richie grew up and learned about life from his friends and his friend Fonzie learned about life from him. Fonzie’d never had a family to speak of, and he adopted the Cunninghams as his. We watched Fonzie do an “Evel Kinevel” and jump a bunch of stuff at Arnold’s. We saw Richie double-date with Fonzie at Arnold’s with Laverne and Shirley. We saw Fonzie date the Hoopla Triplets at Arnold’s. The whole show centered around a restaurant: Arnold’s. Even Jonie, Richie’s little sister started dating at Arnold’s. The place might have been a character on the show. And at some point, Jonie and Chachi were going out on a date, and Chachi (who worked at Arnold’s) left a rag on the stove.
